Income Tax

Under section 4 of the ordinance income tax is imposed for each tax year at specified rates on every person who has taxable income for the year. The tax payer is calculated by applying the rates(s) of the tax to the taxable income of the tax payer for the year and from that amount is deducted any tax credits allowed to the tax payer for that year. Following are the broad categories of taxpayers:

  • Salaried Individuals

Sales Tax

Sales Tax is chargeable on all locally produced and imported goods except computer software, poultry feeds, medicines and unprocessed agricultural produce of Pakistan and other goods specified in Sixth Schedule to The Sales Tax Act, 1990.

Custom Tax

Customs duties in Pakistan are levied on ad-valorem basis. The maximum customs duty is 25%. In addition to the customs duty, the government charges 15% sales tax on the duty paid value of a variety of goods imported into the country. Customs duty and other charges are payable in rupees.
